Lang Lebe die indisch-deutsche Freundschaft!

17 students and two teachers from DPS Dwarka visited Johannes Kepler Gymnasium, Leonberg Germany from 23 May to 09 June 2011.

On 14 April this amazing programme started with the arrival of our German partners. At first we were all anxious as it was a very new experience for all of us, but as we spent more time together a mutual understanding & friendship developed between us.

In India we visited the temples and in Germany, churches and cathedrals. It was culturally enriching. From the streets of Delhi to the roads of Leonberg, the city palace of Jaipur to the castle of Ludwigsburg it was filled with fun and frolic. Dancing to the tunes of Bollywood songs in Indian buses and ‘Macarina’ on the German dance floors we waltzed our way into their hearts.

Apprehensive about the food in Europe, our students went well prepared with ‘ready to eats’. But by the end of the trip they were wondering why they had bothered. There was a beautiful basket of goodies all wrapped up and waiting for all the students with their host families.

The families in Germany made our students feel more than welcome. Two weeks flew by and during the time we spent there, we were a part of German culture & society.

During the trip to the Germany, the students were introduced to the simple and beautiful living of the people of Leonberg. The students visited Ludwigsburg Castle, Art Gallery, Mercedes Museum, Parliament of Germany and went for a trip to Zurich and Black Forest, getting a glimpse of natural beauty juxtaposed with technological advancement.

Indo-German Exchange Programme was an experience of a lifetime and left us with memories which will stay with us forever.
